DIY Spring Wreath

Ever since moving into our home last November, I've been completely shocked at the high prices of wreaths. I mean yes, they're pretty, but some silk flowers stuck on a ring of sticks? Shouldn't cost more than $20, if you ask me. Which is why I made our own for $10! And we're quite pleased with the simple, yet sweet, final product.
Michaels currently has grapevine wreaths for $5 and many of their silk flowers at 50% off. All I did was simply take a long strand of faux daisies (this was all one connected piece) and hot glue it, little by little, to the wreath. It took a total of about 10 minutes. That's my kind of project!

Hope all you lovely ladies are having a great week!

Twirls

skirt:F21, top:J.Crew, shoes:Antonio Melani via Dillards, bracelets:F21/J.Crew(gifted), necklace:thrifted

Something about flowy skirts always brings out my inner six-year old. I twirl and twirl until I can't stand up straight, making the neighbors flash funny looks and wonder what in the world goes on inside our home to provoke such crazy behavior. Lots of love, dear neighbors, lots of love.

Because you are all so kind and won't judge my big sister bragging, I want to drop a much deserved CONGRATULATIONS to my little brother Ryan for being selected for the U.S. Air Force Academy Class of 2016. Over 13,000 applicants and only 750 selected; quite an honor! Love you little brudder. You make us all so proud.

Backyard Matinee

While everyone else has been gearing up to see The Hunger Games today, I found my own entertainment amid our backyard on this glorious, eighty degree day. I've been under the weather all week (So sorry for not keeping up with your blogs! I'll catch up...promise!), making the fresh air much needed and appreciated. Thank you, Mother Nature, for delivering.
Pink nails make outdoorsy seem feminine.
It was like a movie, really. Each scene pulled me in and I found myself never wanting it to end.
Everywhere I looked Mother Nature seemed to be saying, "Look at what you've been missing".
*It should also be noted that I'm listening to Michael Buble's Christmas album while uploading these pictures.....does he make a spring soundtrack? While it's true I'll likely be home for Christmas, it seems a bit early to be thinking/singing about.
Zach's favorite part of the backyard....
These two were big buddies all afternoon, engaging in many an in-depth conversation.
Even the iPad was soaking it all in.

Spring is here, friends! It's a beautiful thing. Happy weekend to you and yours :)

Safari

shirt:Anthro, skinnies:Gap, heels:Enzo Angiolini via Nordstrom, bracelet:J.Crew (gifted), necklace: thrifted, sunnies:F21, hat: Urban Outfitters (gifted)

I don't agree with the Kardashian sisters too often, but we definitely share a love for all things leopard print. There's just something about it that feels so.....wild. Like, look at me in my Anthropologie shirt and heels that I could totally tame a lion in. In reality, a trip to the zoo in this outfit would be a stretch.

I'm also loving the pairing of brown and black, even though it's difficult to get used to. Doesn't it defy everything we learned in the nineties? Black shoes+brown belt=not walking out the front door until fixed. Now, however, they're becoming friends and it's nice to see the two shades buddy up once in a while. What do you think? Do you dare to mix black and brown?

Hope you've all had a fabulous weekend!!

Bell Bottoms and Bling

blazer:F21, jeans:F21, cami:Gap, shoes:Kohls, purse:Sam Moon, necklace:Wet Seal, bow ring:F21

Lately, I am really loving the POC (pop of color) trend that Brad Goreski ingeniously incorporates into almost all of his styling (just watch this). Any simple, monochromatic outfit can be transformed with one bright, fun accessory. Though I originally envisioned this blazer as a work piece, when paired with the blue purse it becomes a more laid back, weekend outfit.

Skinny jeans have also been the leader of my wardrobe lately but when I spotted these bell bottoms on sale at Forever 21 for $6.99, I knew it would be love at first wear. After all, even my dad wore bell bottoms in high school. They must be cool, right?

Rhinestone Cowgirls

Zach's family has been here this week and we've enjoyed good food and great company. Yesterday, we headed out to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo bright and early (a yearly tradition). Sweet tea and chicken strips on a stick made their way into our tummies, yet again. There's talk of seeing Jason Aldean in concert tonight; life is good.

Black, White, and Pink All Over

It rained and rained here in Houston yesterday, providing us with the perfect excuse for a lazy Sunday. As evening rolled in and our movie marathon came to a close, the rain took a little break and we ventured out in the heavenly seventy-five degree weather. Oh spring, how beautifully bipolar you can be.

 skirt:Forever21, cami:Gap, blazer:Rampage via Dillards, bracelet:J.Crew(gift), watch:unknown(gift), necklace:Wet Seal, shoes:Forever21, clutch:thrifted

You might remember this skirt from here....it is seriously the most fun, comfy, unleash-your-inner-six-year-old skirt in the world. Plus, mullets were in style when I was six and this is totally a mullet skirt. Business in the front, party in the back. We're lucky I stopped twirling long enough to take a picture. Big thanks to my precious sister-in-law, Katy, for playing photographer :).

Weekend Thus Far

Hi, lovelies! Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend. Zach's little sister, Katy, and her boyfriend, Caleb, are down visiting us for a few days and we are making the most of it. So far we've bowled, stuffed our faces full of greasy fair food, watched lots of mutton bustin' at the Houston Rodeo, and seen Chris Young in concert. As of now, chocolate chip cookies are in the oven. Ahhhhh, weekend bliss.

Zach just snuck in behind my chair and scared the living daylights out of me...hence the random letters above. Time for payback! Later! :)
