Aggieland Adventures

Our Labor Day weekend was very lacking in the labor department indeed. However, the A&M football team "did work, son" (did I just say that?). Zach was an extremely happy camper post-game, even treating me to midnight Mickey Dee's. Nothing quite says celebratory dinner like the Dollar Menu. We had a great time with Katy and Caleb, even if we did spend two hours locked in Katy's room playing The Song Game (i.e. someone thinks of a word such as "love" and you take turns coming up with a song that contains the word, thus filling your head with Beatles classics and singing "Can't Buy Me Love" through an entire college football game). We had fun.

After church on Sunday Zach made a beeline for Rudy's. We weren't mad. (Katy accurately labeled this "the creeper picture")

We just discovered this weekend that Zach and Katy have the same signature dimple, just on opposite cheeks. This was big news, people; Fullwood genes are strong.

Zach learned a new phrase this weekend...happy wife=happy life. Thankfully he makes me very, very happy.

Katy introduced us to a little chunk of heaven on earth known as Yogurtland. You choose a flavor of yogurt and then fill it with toppings all by yourself. Seriously, heaven. We unleashed our inner six-year-old.

Oh yeah, my husband chowed down with a Hello Kitty spoon. I cherished that moment for it will never, ever happen again.

This t-shirt got a lot of attention.

I cannot begin to express to you the magnitude of this picture. This is Zach's hero, Von Miller, who graduated from A&M last year and is now playing for the Denver Broncos. Supposedly our first son will be named Von Miller Fullwood....I'm not feeling it.

Zach got an autograph from Terrence Murphy, a 2005 graduate who went on to play for the Green Bay Packers but is now a real estate agent. Hook it up, yo.

Okay, I cheated....this was taken after we got back to Houston. I just had to show some love to our favorite cornbread muffins in the whole world from Jason's Deli. Is your mouth watering yet?

Crafty Coasters

Ever since our wedding, Zach and I have been feeling ultra crafty. We have found, however, that most crafts can unfortunately get a bit costly. When I stumbled upon these coasters on How About Orange (tutorial here), I knew we had to give them a try. Summertime has left us many a magazine laying around, just asking to be put to good use.

We are headed to College Station tomorrow for the first A&M football game of the year and to see Miss Katy; hope she enjoys her little surprise... and of course all the greasy food we are going to treat her to (heeellooooo Wings 'n More). Zach is bubbling over with excitement and it's just so cute. It has felt like Christmas Eve in Casa de Fullwood all week and I am finally beginning to embrace the thrills college football brings. So, against all better judgement, Gig 'em Ags! :)

Gettin' Thrifty With It

Hi friends!! I have a confession for you all. Last week I did a very bad thing... I went to Salvation Army without my husband. Let me tell you guys, he was NOT happy. After getting the puppy dog eyes and hearing heavy disappointment in his voice, I vowed to never again fly solo into our favorite junk haven. Even still, I had to share my finds with y'all. The cobalt blue and white vase you see above was $1.99 and I instantly fell in love. The little trinket box came all the way from the Amsterdam airport; I think they are buddies now.

The red heart bowl below was one of four I found for 99 cents each. Score! I love the scalloped edges and bright red color that will look perfect with our new Fiesta flatware (which is sadly still living in Sweetwater). Point of this post: Go thrift your little hearts out! There are many treasures to be found. 

Halloween in August

My favorite holiday has always been Christmas. This becomes apparent every year around July when I start listening to the Bing Crosby White Christmas album and burning Christmasy scents (my favorite is Target's Essential Homes Warm Gingerbread. I just wanna eat it....wax and all). My husband, on the other hand, loves Halloween. Though I don't share his enthusiasm for this excuse to play pranks on people and scare them half to death, I am always down to trick-or-treat. Halloween sweets rank pretty high on the list of holiday treats, right behind Christmas of course (which follows shortly behind Easter. Cadbury Eggs simply cannot be beat). In honor of my husband, I attempted caramel apples and though they didn't turn out as pretty as the ones at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, they still did the trick. If you too would like to prematurely celebrate All Hallows Eve by making these goodies, follow the simple steps below:

1. Get 5 granny smith apples, wash them, put sticks through core (we used regular wooden skewers and cut them down with needle-nose pliers)
2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt one 14 oz. package of Kraft Caramels. Stir until all pieces have melted
3. Dip apples into caramel and set on wax paper to dry for a few minutes before dipping into pecans or any other topping of choice (we also used Reeses Pieces)
4. Transfer apples to a plate and keep them in refrigerator until ready to eat
5. Enjoy!

Yes, the stores already have candy corn on the shelves...God bless them.

Collecting for the Military

Thought I would share a project that's near and dear to my heart in the hopes that some of you would like to help as well. Zach works with a lady whose son's Boy Scout troop is collecting items for troops in Afghanistan. They are without water, eat MRE's for every meal, and only receive mail every 2-3 weeks. Weekend Shenanigans

Hi friends! This weekend was a quick one, wasn't it? We made the most of it though, eating good food and seeing great friends. I'm proud to say we are making a tiny bit of progress in the house-hunting, but of course I can't disclose that until I get the okay from Mr. Fullwood. And y'all just thought I wear the pants in this relationship.  

Brit Stelzer came in town Saturday and we saw The Help, which definitely lived up to it's hype. We're talking tears, y'all, lots of tears. Zach and I later met up with some friends to watch the UFC fight (it wasn't as good as The Help) and thoroughly enjoyed the company and midtown atmosphere. Oh, and did I mention we did a little antiquing? 'Cause we did, and guess who's idea it was? No, not mine...my husbands! Boy do I love him.

Oldies But Goodies

Ever since Zach made our wedding slideshow, I have LOVED looking back at all the old pictures he scanned. We just laugh and laugh and tell each other the stories surrounding each picture; so many wonderful memories now happily stored on our hard drive :). Hope you get a kick out of these, too!
