Trip Back Home

 

The weekend before last, we headed back to West Texas for the beautiful wedding of my lifelong friend, Karli, and to visit family. The wedding was just perfect; congratulations Karli and Afton! We wish you many, many years of happiness.

 Last Saturday, my parents threw an amazing birthday party complete with homemade ice cream, lots of sweet family, and an absurd amount of presents (I'm not complaining). You only turn 26 once, right?

 

Bear kicked off his Sperry's to go to town on some ice cream. That stuff's serious business; shoes are way too much of a deterrence. Sadly he didn't get any cake...he has to wait four more months (from today! happy 8 month birthday, Bear!) before he gets the whole shebang. Zach and I made up for what he didn't eat.

 

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for having such an incredible party and bringing our family together to celebrate. Spending time with y'all was the best present of all. Love you!

Summertime means wedding season and boat shoes. And, at least in Texas, a more laid-back style of "dressy" is acceptable and even encouraged. My life-long friend, Karli, had her wedding last weekend and we were so honored and thrilled to witness her special day. She was such a stunning bride; pictures from the wedding will be up soon! Bear and I snapped these before heading out...the ceremony was outside so we wanted to be in lightweight, comfy fabrics. Luckily the bride was so stunning, we didn't even notice the heat. :)

Lately...

I have been such a bad blogger lately; I'm so sorry for not commenting on your blogs as much as I should! I promise they're still being read and I love keeping up with each of you!

 

My 26th birthday is today (it's been a special one!) and it seemed like a good day to reflect on the last couple of weeks. They've been a whirlwind, but so much fun! We took a trip back to West Texas this weekend and I'll recap on that soon, too.

Came home last night to find the most amazing Lush package from my brother and sister-in-law...totally made my night! Thank you so much, Shane and Scarlett! LOVE it!

Happy Belated 4th of July!

The 4th of July has always been a huge celebratory event in my family; Zach and I hope to carry many of those traditions over into our little family as well. Parades, fireworks, BBQ, swimming, late night walks and vacation have always played a major role in our Independence Day magic and this year was no different. In fact, minus the parades/vacation, we hit all the above out of the park. And it was pretty awesome just soaking it all up in the comfort of our own backyard. My parents & little brother came to visit and we had the best time enjoying Baby Bear's first 4th.

Bear hadn't seen Uncle Ryan since March and it was so sweet seeing them together again. Best buddies! 

 

 The 4th is also a time when we reflect on those who have so bravely served our nation, both past and present. Thank you, thank you, thank you to those incredible men and women.

Momma & Mini Style: Onesies

 

 Rompers are, truth be told, grown-up onesies. No shame here. Babies love 'em, why wouldn't Mommas, too? They're super comfy and perfect for nursing. Bear's 7 1/2 months old and we still haven't mastered nursing on-the-go, but we're getting there (likely will "be there" right when he stops breastfeeding..). Rompers are such a nice change from button-up blouses and are more relaxed and cooler for Houston summer temps.
