Sweetwater Shower

Several weeks ago, friends and family in our hometown threw us an amazing baby shower at the church I grew up in. From the yummy food to the adorable diaper cake, it was absolutely perfect! So many wonderful ladies came out to help celebrate; it was such a special day. Baby Boy was definitely feeling the love.

Lately...

Life has been pretty sweet these last few weeks...nesting is officially in full swing and preparing for Baby is taking #1 priority. Thanks to my Mom, Dad, and Z's hard work, things around the house are finally starting to feel ready.

37 Weeks (full term!)

Hello! I can't believe I'm sitting down to write a 37 week "bump" update; where have the last 8 months gone? So many of you have followed along throughout the months and left tons of encouraging, thoughtful comments. I honestly can't say thank you enough. You have made this an even more incredible journey than it's already been and I have loved sharing this special time in our lives with you all. Thank you!

My parents came down this weekend and helped us get the house "baby ready"; words can't begin to explain our gratitude and appreciation for all their hard work. Mom and Dad, you guys are the BEST. I know there were times my Mom was thinking "How did it even get this dirty?" but she never said a word, she just cleaned away. I'm talking even deep cleaning...the fridge, the oven, scrubbing toilets...we owe you guys big time! Thank you. We love you and can't wait to see you in a few weeks (or days? who knows!) when Tiny makes his big debut.

 To our Baby Boy:
You are so close to seeing the real world for the very first time! What a life changing moment that will be for all three of us. For your Daddy and me, it will be the best moment of our lives. I find myself lying awake at night, unable to sleep, picturing your tiny hands and perfectly soft skin. I imagine what it will be like when you look up at me for the first time, finally putting a face with your Momma's voice. I will cry....oh, will I cry. To finally hold you in my arms will make every bout of morning sickness, every puffy ankle, and every last trip to the bathroom (there have been many) more than worth while. In fact, I have a strong hunch that those things will fade from my memory the moment I meet you, Little One. Take your time, just know that when you decide to make your great escape, we'll be ready. We love you, Baby Boy.

How Far Along: 37 weeks, 1 day
Baby Size: 19-20 inches, 6 1/2+ lbs.
Total Weight Gain: 23 lbs.
Maternity Clothes? Yep! It's been colder the last few days so I've been wearing regular track suits with long tanks or maternity tops. Leggings are still my best friend.
Stretch Marks? No new ones to report
Sleep: Sleeping really well...think my body is resting up in preparation!
Best moment this week: My parents coming to visit this weekend; they helped us SO much. It was amazing. My sweet Mom did more in one day than I could've done in two weeks.
Miss Anything? Not really, just trying to enjoy these last few weeks with Tiny in my belly. I know I'm going to miss him being all snuggled up in there.
Movement: Ohhh yes. Kicks were painful a few times this week!
Food Cravings: Curly fries from Arby's and Jack in the Box, chocolate ice cream
Anything making you queasy or sick? Feeling good
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Not yet...people seemed surprised when we tell them I haven't had a single contraction yet. I'm not complaining...
Belly button in or out? Still volcano-ish
Wedding rings on or off? On & loose
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and anxious
Looking forward to: Meeting our Boy

Baby's Bedding

Hi friends! I've been keeping the nursery pretty much in hiding until it's completely finished, but I couldn't wait any longer to show our Little Man's bedding to you all!

So much love and time went into each piece of his bedding; it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. A few months ago, I was talking to a dear family friend (Ann Allen, aka our "Fairy Godmother") about our crib when she graciously offered to make Tiny's bedding. I was blown away and so grateful that she'd be willing to tackle such a time-consuming task, but knowing how creative and talented she is, couldn't say no. And I'm so thankful I didn't; she did an amazing job! If you're reading this Mrs. A, please know how much we love you and appreciate this labor of love. Tiny is going to enjoy many nights in his big, comfy crib.

Several things have changed in the room since these pictures were taken; a full nursery post coming soon! The room is pretty much neutral elsewhere, so we wanted the crib to be a fun pop of color and focal point.

The fabric was all picked out from Jo-Anns and Hobby Lobby.
The pillows were made by my grandmother, and she also gave us the adorable sock monkey. Don't worry, they will all come out of the crib when Little Man is put down!

We are waiting on ONE last thing we ordered off Etsy and then I'll take pictures and do a "big reveal". Tiny could technically arrive any day now, so we need to wrap things up!

Happy Hump Day, friends; I hope you are all having a blessed week.

36 Weeks

Running late on these posts seems to be a bad habit I've gotten into the last couple weeks. Z and I keep forgetting to take pictures and have been so busy preparing for Baby that everything seems to be a whirlwind. Better late than never, right? We rushed to take these pictures when Zach got home from work tonight and it was already pretty late/dark; please excuse the poor quality!

This weekend was full of family, food, and football...our three favorite things. Zach's brother Cole, his wife Amanda, and their 18 month old Kamdon came down to stay with us and we had a blast doing things like staying up late playing Apples to Apples and visiting the Children's Museum in downtown Houston. Zach's little sister Katy drove in on Saturday morning and spent the day with us; it's always such a treat to see sweet Katy. Things are pretty quiet around here now, but we have a feeling that won't last much longer! Baby is gonna break the silence, in the best way possible of course.

To our Baby Boy:
You are almost considered a full-term baby! Can you believe you've been growing away in there for over 36 weeks now? You must be past ready to come out and see the world. Then again, you seem pretty comfy and content, and who could blame you? Momma's pretty happy to be this close to you, too. You are still loving our walks in the evenings and kick in opposition when we get home and the fun is over. I promise Daddy and I will continue to walk you long after you're born, sweet boy. Your doctor's appointment went perfectly today; not much longer until we can kiss your chubby cheeks. We love you, Tiny.

How Far Along: 36 weeks, 3 days
Baby Size: 19+ inches, 6 lbs. 4 oz.
Total Weight Gain: 22-23 lbs.
Maternity Clothes? Yes! Normal tops are starting to be "belly tees" as Zach likes to call them. You know, something you'd see at the trailor park.
Stretch Marks? No new ones to report
Sleep: Sleeping great! Trying to enjoy it while we still can :)
Best moment this week: Visiting with Zach's family this weekend...and having a good report at the doctor today.
Miss Anything? Not swelling! Not having to squeeeeeze into my shoes would be nice.
Movement: Still lots. Little Guy likes to squirm! He doesn't have much room to wiggle anymore though, but Zach likes to feel around for his feet, bum, and little knees. We can feel lots of body parts now!
Food Cravings: Turkey sandwiches on focaccia from Jason's Deli, kettle corn, Jack in the Box curly fries
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope! Feeling good.
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Not yet. Not even a single Braxton Hicks! I guess Baby is pretty comfy in there.
Belly button in or out? Almost completely on the outs. So weird!
Wedding rings on or off? On & loose
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and a little moody this week...feeling anxious and overwhelmed about getting everything marked off the big to-do list before Tiny arrives.
Looking forward to: Meeting Baby!

Exxon Shower

Two weeks ago, Zach's work friends sweetly threw us a baby shower at their office. It was so thoughtful and special; we were blown away by everything they did for us and our Little Man. Zach is extremely blessed to work with such kind, wonderful people. Baby is now fixed up!

the adorable, VERY yummy chocolate cake
only a few more weeks until I can quit hiding his name :)

One of Zach's co-workers, Virginia, made this beautiful A&M baby quilt just for Tiny. I was so surprised and thankful (and hormonal??) that a few tears actually fell.

thrilled about diaper changing...
Thank you to everyone who made this such a special memory for Zach and me. We are grateful beyond measure.

I've been a terrible blogger lately; please forgive me! I hope each of you had a fabulous weekend. Planning to catch up on your blogs this afternoon!
xoxo,
B & Baby
