Wedding Cake Link-Up

Hi friends! Today I am linking up with Britt from The Magnolia Pair to share our wedding cakes with you all!
Zach and I were married on June 25, 2011 in our West Texas hometown. It was also my grandparent's 56th wedding anniversary, making the day all the more special for Zach and me. It was a perfect day, in our eyes, and we will always cherish our wedding memories. Zach is a little weary about retrying these cakes on our first anniversary come June; something about year old cake gives him the heebie jeebies. For those of you that have honored that tradition....was it worth it? How can I coax my hubby? :)

Bride's Cake
My cake was a five-tiered alternating mix of lemon and strawberry cake with fillings to match. Our wedding had a vintage theme with pearls galore, and we wanted the cake to represent that as well. Our florist added fresh flowers for a pretty pop of purple (say that three times fast!).

Groom's Cake
Zach's cake was a delicious red velvet with cream cheese frosting, his all-time favorite. He wanted something simple replicating the Texas "Come and Take It" flag.

  2. Gorgeous! Mmm I could go for some wedding cake right now! We actually ate our topper on our 2nd anniversary: we were in the process of moving four hours away on our 1st anniversary, so our cake was too far away (in my parents' freezer)! The cake part is good, but the fondant was on the yuck side. Good luck trying to convince him!

  4. I absolutely LOVE your dress, I know this post is about your cake but your dress is simply beautiful. My cake (the main cake) for our wedding was a 4 tier strawberry cake and it was so yummy looks like yours was to. They are both beautiful, don't you wish you could relive your wedding every so often, they are so much fun.

  11. Beautiful! My best friend from pastry school made my cake, oh how I loved it. She made my topper out of clay and the top tier was styrofoam so I have it sitting in my apartment! A constant reminder of my wedding :) Although I am a little bummed I didn't get a slice! Someone stole mine..how rude! ;)
