Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies

I found this delicious recipe here over at Lovin' From the Oven. Mine didn't turn out quite like hers (these came out thin, but still soft...hers are thicker), but Z and I still loved them. So did our friend Too who came over to help with the nursery on Saturday. Thanks for all your hard work, Too! The cookies weren't nearly 'thank you' enough.

These are a perfect combination of ooey, gooey, a little crunchy, and chocolatey. The whole cookie within a cookie concept is brilliant, and the chocolate chips just set these over the edge of yumminess. Oh, and did I mention the Oreo cream filling bakes in quite nicely as well? 'Cause it does. If you whip these up, all who consume are likely to love you forever.

You'll need:
1 stick softened butter
6 Tablespoons sugar
6 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 ¼ cup flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
11 broken pieces Oreo Cookies
1 cup chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugars until well combined. Add egg and vanilla until mixed well.
2. Place flour, baking soda and salt into a large bowl, stir to combine. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients then stir in oreos and chocolate chips until just combined.
3. With a medium cookie scoop, scoop onto baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until cooked, but still soft. Let cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

Happy baking, y'all!

24 Weeks (6 months!)

Hi, friends! I can't believe we're already at the 6 month mark; this pregnancy is really flying by! Although, thinking about it now, those first 19 weeks didn't exactly seem to fly by. Morning/afternoon/night sickness made for long days and difficulty eating, but the last 5 weeks sure have flown.

Zach has truly been my hero this week. Not that he isn't always worthy of that title, but this week he's more than earned it. He has worked so hard on Tiny's nursery; we decided yesterday that he sweated out at least 3 gallons of water. He's putting wainscoting in and it's turned out to be quite the project....just a little more time-consuming and expensive than we originally thought. But every time we get frustrated, we look down at Baby and know it will all be worth it when he arrives. Thank you for all your hard work, Z! Tiny and I are so proud of the carpenter you're becoming :).

To our Baby Boy:
Oh, Little Man, how funny you already are. You make us laugh all the time! You are such a wiggler, especially after I give you some Sour Patch Kids (hopefully my doctor isn't reading this). Your 6 month appointment last week went flawlessly; you are growing more and more every day. We recorded your heartbeat so we can listen to it anytime we want...it's so incredible to think that your little heart has already beat over 2 million times. That's a lot! We are officially signed up for birthing classes so we can be fully prepared for your arrival; we can't wait to meet you, sweet boy. Mommy is going to treat you to a milkshake today just to show you how much you're loved.

How Far Along: 24 weeks, 3 days
Baby Size: 1 ft. long, just over 1 lb.
Total Weight Gain: 10-11 lbs. (double digits!)
Maternity Clothes? Mostly just dresses and flowy skirts
Stretch Marks? Not yet...still applying lots of lotion every night!
Sleep: Having a really lovely relationship with the couch these days. I find myself there most nights, only to be awakened at 5am when Zach comes into the living room afraid I've been kidnapped.
Best moment this week: Hearing Baby's heartbeat
Miss Anything? Sleeping on my back...it's so hard to keep from it!
Movement: Tons! I recorded a video of Tiny dancin' at the pool last week and sent it to all our family....boy's got some moves.
Food Cravings: Chocolate milk....we probably should invest in a cow.
Anything making you queasy or sick? No, though I did throw up two mornings last week :(. Hopefully won't happen again!
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Not yet
Belly button in or out? Still an innie
Wedding rings on or off? On & loose
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy and blessed. I had one moody moment last week...poor Zach had to bear the brunt of it. Tiny and I got too hungry and weren't happy with Benihana for taking so long to prepare our food, but we cheered up after leaving nice and full.
Looking forward to: Finishing the nursery walls! It's been a BIG project, let me tell you. Hopefully we'll finish next weekend and I can show you guys what we (we being 96% Zach, 4% me) have been working so hard on.

Thank you for keeping up with our baby updates! Your comments always make me (and Little Guy!) smile.

Five Things

A few things that are making us smile these days.......

buying HUGE watermelons and devouring only the heart

the beginning of a shadowbox for Tiny's nursery with Dad's newborn outfit

sweet cousins visiting from North Carolina

Saturday morning donuts

Abbey Road vinyl that plays quite frequently on our record player (Baby loves it. He does a little jig to Here Comes the Sun)

in Zach's opinion, "the best chocolate chip cookies EVER"....made from Pillsbury refrigerated dough

Oopsie...that was six things. You'll forgive me, won't you? Seems food is taking priority these days...eating for two is fun!

What's bringing happiness your way lately??

Maternity Style: Bright

dress:Dillards, shoes:Target, bracelets:Glitter, necklace:F21

My parents gave me this dress for my birthday and I love it. Thanks, Mom and Dad! It's comfortable and cool, while still being bright and fun. Dresses are such an easy choice for expecting ladies because they provide belly-freedom and aren't too tight or stuffy. I love the tie die print in this particular dress because it accentuates the belly, my best feature :).

I'm also finding that wedges are a great way to dress up my feet a little without the pain and discomfort of heels or pumps. Pregnancy makes the whole "beauty is pain" saying go out the window. Let's change that to "beauty is staying in your pajamas as long as possible, sometimes all day, and only wearing make-up when you know you will be seen (Wal Mart runs don't count)"...shall we?

Happy Saturday, friends!

Turn Any Purse Into a Diaper Bag!

Awhile back, I posted a picture of the Steve Madden "diaper bag" Z and I found at Home Goods. I fell in love with it instantly depsite the fact that it's not officially a diaper bag, but instead a satchel. We figured we could make it work since it's the perfect size for Tiny's things (while still being stylish).

After looking closer at the inside, I began to worry. The cloth material seemed like it would get filthy from bottles, dirty wipes, etc. (gross!) and it was too big of a space to really organize baby necessities.

One day, I was surfing Amazon when I came across this. The perfect solution to our little problem...a diaper bag insert organizer.

Zach ordered it right away and viola! It fits perfectly inside my new "diaper bag" (I can quit using the quotations now, right? Since the bag's been converted and all...).

It's made of durable, waterproof material so it's easy to wipe clean. Thank you, Amazon! You really are like magic.

I'm sorry for all the baby-related posts lately; thank you guys for bearing with me. Little One has definitely taken over our lives and it's apparent through this blog. It makes us happy, though, so there will surely be many more baby posts coming your way :).

Maternity Style: Flowy

dress: H&M (gift from my sweet sis-in-law, Scarlett), necklaces: gift (from Japan!)/F21

My sister-in-law loaded me up with "honeymoon wear" for Italy last year and this dress happens to be one of my favorites. It's perfect for pregnancy...flowy, comfy, and lightweight. Maxi dresses are a growing staple in my wardrobe these days; Tiny loves his freedom to wiggle while Momma loves to be comfortable and fashionable.

I'm also learning that as much as I enjoy accessorizing (it's a bit of an addiction, really), less is more with a bold print like this one. I want Baby to be the main attraction, anyway :).

I loved hearing your opinions on rompers...now on to maxis! Are you a fan? Where do you buy your favorites?

p.s. 24 weeks in ONE day! It's hard to believe we're already at the 6 month mark. Our 24 week appointment is this afternoon and we're praying all goes well. Z and I are so excited to hear his little heartbeat.

Baby's Bathroom (quack quack)

Hi friends! Here's a preview of Tiny's ducky-themed bathroom, which is almost finished. We are going for a more "sophisticated" look in the nursery, so we thought we'd have a little fun with his bathroom. The room was already painted sky blue, so we simply added little quacky touches here and there to make nightly bath rituals something he'll enjoy :). Hopefully.

golf and football rubber duckies, naturally

Sorry for the crazy amount of pictures; ducks are just so darn cute! Maybe I should redo our master bath too......

Happy Hump Day, ladies!

Maternity Style: Rompin' Around

romper:F21, belt:F21, bracelets:Glitter, necklace/rings:F21, flats:unknown

Please ignore the fact that it was trash pick-up day and apparently Zach thought it'd be humorous to make sure trash cans were in every single shot. I think he's secretly trying to get fired from his photographer duties.

Rompers have been a favorite of mine for the past couple months. They are a pregnant lady's dream...cool, comfy, and belly-friendly. It's a bit funny to think I'm wearing a big-girl onesie, but also seems slightly appropriate considering my current condition. Embrace all things baby, right? :) Now if only they'd put some snaps in the crotch area to allow easier bathroom trips, I'd have a closet full of these things.

What's your take on rompers? Are you a fan, too?
